COSMETIC SKINCARE GUIDE FOR YOUR 30s

Beauty Goal: Refine & Rejuvenate

Your 30’s is when your skincare routine should be shifted up a gear. In addition to protecting skin though replenishing lost essential nutrients, proactive steps should be taken to negate the effects of hormonal changes in the body which affect collagen production, cell turnover and sebaceous output.

This life chapter can see a lot of structural changes in your skin. In addition to taking protective measures in your daily routine it becomes essential to add key ingredients that will maintain your skins framework and encourage cell turnover. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant hero that attracts and hold up to 1000 times its own weight in water, effectively supporting collagen and elastin, promoting firmness in skin and treating fine lines and wrinkles.

Continued use of hydroxy acids in the form of AHA’s and BHA’s is encouraged if your skin is indicated for these to treat congestion, breakouts, textural issues or uneven skin tone. Hydroxy acids will encourage cell proliferation & refine skin preventing premature ageing.

Boost your antioxidant levels. In addition to your antioxidants sourced from vitamins and phytonutrients add Retinol to topical skincare to reverse cellular DNA damage and enhance anti-ageing. Oral supplementation and better diet choices through introducing superfoods create a robust treatment plan which will enhance your complexion further.

The best way to combine these ingredients is acids at night and retinol in the morning. And never leave home without applying your protective SPF.

Morning

  1. Cleanser: Use a sulphate free cleanser chosen according to skin type. Including a mild AHA or BHA at this phase would be beneficial for oily or problematic skin. It’s important you follow a daily cleaning routine for your face.

  2. Toner: Toners have the ability to help refine pores, eliminate toxins and balance skin pH to optimise cell turnover and enhance ingredient efficacy.

  3. Serum: Introduce a serum with a light texture to ensure delivery of active ingredients deep within skin layers. Hero ingredients during 30’s should include Retinol, Hyaluronic Acid and Peptides

  4. Eye Gel: The skin around the eye area is the most delicate on your face. Introduce an antioxidant and peptide powered eye product to treat dehydration, lines and wrinkles and even the skin tone.

  5. Moisturise: Ensure your moisturiser contains humectant ingredients which encourage your skin to attract and retain moisture. Boost efficacy by opting for a moisturiser with high levels of anti-oxidants to replenish lost nutrients and protect your skin against free radical attack.

  6. SPF: The UV Rays are one of the most harmful elements your skin is exposed to. Daily application of a broad spectrum (protects against UVA & UVB) SPF is a non-negotiable. Apply this generously not forgetting to incorporate neck and ears.

Evening

  1. Cleanse: Your evening cleansing regime remains an essential part of skin care in your 30s. By removing pollutants and debris you are being proactive about negating free radical damage which contributes to premature ageing.

  2. Tone: Include a toner that works to balance your skin’s pH and slough off dead skin cells by adding exfoliant ingredients such as Lactic, Glycolic or Salicylic Acid.

  3. Serum: Introduce a night time treatment serum according to skin type. A good Serum will work deeper into the skin and enhance the effects of moisturiser. Ingredients to consider are AHA’s, Hyaluronic Acids and Peptides to help your skin regenerate overnight.

  4. Eye Gel: The skin around the eye area is the most delicate on your face. Introduce an antioxidant and peptide powered eye product to treat dehydration, lines and wrinkles and even the skin tone

  5. Moisturise: Ensure your moisturiser contains humectant ingredients which encourage your skin to attract and retain moisture. Boost efficacy by opting for a moisturiser with high levels of anti-oxidants to replenish lost nutrients and negate the effects of free radical attack.

  6. Masque: 3 times per week: Choose a mask according to skin type to concentrate on your primary skincare concern. A combination of antioxidants, hyaluronic acid and alpha hydroxy acids with provide a robust treatment for most skin types and drive efficacy due to the performance driven ingredients.
